Red Hill Vintage Fair

Yesterday was the most incredible day, Retrobabes took a stand at the inaugural Red Hill Vintage Fair.

(Future fairs will be held on the 4th Sunday of the month from now on)

It was so much fun, lots of funky stall holders attended, the Hall was full and so was the undercover basketball court, of a huge variety of vintage treasures, from industrial, retro, french chic, vinyls, gorgeous vintage clothing and very rare and electic things. And of course we had the farmers market as well.

I met lots of great people some local and some from the Big Smoke, it was a wonderful Day.

Thank you to Karen who organised the whole event, looking forward to the next one.

Colour my World

OMG Vintage 60's, Retro, Atomic is becoming sooo hard to find, those wonderful colourful and futuristic   furnishings that are so wonderful, Joe and I have been, scrabbling about driving all over the country and voila` -  success.

Look at these yummy things:

Once upon a time I would find things everywhere, markets, sales, fairs, now there is nothing, sometimes if you are very lucky you will see something in Op Shops, but the prices are so high, I cannot buy them. I have found things cheaper in the Vintage Shed, than in Op Shops. I wonder what happened to the 'Opportunity' in Op Shop!

But 'keep moving forward' is my motto, I am not sure it's Joe's, it could be more like....Lets strangle Jules....and stop this madness.

I am now working harder, is that possible? I already work 24/7. We have found a few nice pieces recently  see above and will be putting them into the cute little Retrobabes Atomic shop, very soon.

We have recently rearranged our space in the Vintage Shed and made two cosy little shops The eclectic Retrobabes Industry and Retrobabes Atomic which has lots of lovely colourful finds, and a great selection of vinyl's from the 50's to the 80's. The vinyl's are Joe's thing, and he has a great selection at present, and he regularly puts new vinyls in weekly.

Retrobabes Music also has great band T- shirts.

I Love Vintage

Another Day in the world of Vintage........

I Love Vintage the Clothes, the furniture, the accessories, I live it work it, just about breathe it.
So it was with great excitement that I attended the Love Vintage fair on the weekend, fantastic! All those lovely vintage finds, I was so envious, I would love to have them in my collection.  Circa Vintage's fashion parade was spectacular. This was just one of the many beautiful dresses. circavintageclothing.com.au

Did I mention that I Love Vintage Things, so much so that my studio is bursting with incredible Vintage Finds, no seriously I really mean bursting, .... it's out of control, everywhere you look,  Retro brica brac, Industrial Stuff, Clothes, shoes, Hats (especially Hats - need to get that obsession under control). It used to be our Pool and recreation room, now it's my studio, much to my kids disgust.

But finally I have come to the conclusion that I have to part with my precious, so bit by bit they are going into my little shops.
Here are some pics of a few dresses, from my collection of the 1950's.
This gorgeous dress is very reminiscent of Audrey. A beautiful aqua blue, with button all the way down the back.
Lovely 1950's grey organza full dress with black flock pattern.

This  ballett dress has tulle, cotton and velvet trim, it is so swishy and pretty.

Good bye my little babies, I hope you find a lovely home soon.

I hope you have a lovely week, and have lots of wonderful vintage finds.

Take Care

Warm and Fuzzy

I know it's still only autumn, but you can feel winter coming closer, the cold is starting to bite.
It makes me feel like curling up in front of the fire with a glass of red, or staying in a cosy warm bed in the mornings, listening to the rain.
In fact that's what I am doing right now, while writing this blog.

This afternoon I grabbed my coat, and camera, and lots of coats and my lovely model Shakira and off we went in search of a location, unfortunately all didn't go according to plan, the seagulls were uncooperative ( I wanted a seagull photo) and we had a creepy guy park near us and keep staring, so we had to move on. Then  the light faded fairly quickly, so we will have to photograph the rest next week, but here is today's result.

Below is an incredible Vintage 1980's Artic Fox Fur Winter Jacket a very rare find, the pelt is so soft and luxurious.

Look at the gorgeous vintage mink Jacket below it is so beautiful with a lovely lustre.
This cute little boho coat is faux fur very gorgeous.
And look at this pretty little cream vintage 1940's Lapin capelet with lovely scalloped egdes.
Back next week with more lovely pics, hopefully the seagulls will be more cooperative and the creepy guy stays home. Have a fantastic week.

Just a little note - I just wanted you all to know that I don't condone  the killing of animals for fashion and I only stock vintage fur. I just feel that it is better to recycle and reuse from the past, I would hate to think that these beautiful furs would end up composting somewhere.

Vintage Violets

Retrobabes new label

 'Vintage Violets Boutique'

Beautiful found vintage pieces and lovely Designer wear.

For some time I have been sick of the Nana and very ordinary vintage that seems to be around, probably because it's easier to find, I have been working hard - very hard - to find the rare and unusual.

This business is hard, sourcing, mending - a stitch here and there, a new zip, and a good sprucing up, no time for housework and my friends are complaining, but there is and will be more beautiful vintage going in each week, all for you, my lovelies.

I will be doing a photo shoot next week, if the rains holds off, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

I recently found a great calendar which I turned into cards, see my Tea Party Stand in the Vintage Shed.

SO TRUE!

Have a great week.
